gaogao is a web app for growing living generative art. Every artwork is an organism grown from a genome: a set of genes that express in phases into cells, colours, and patterns. No two are the same, and each is a link that reproduces the exact same artwork on any device.
How it works

How does breeding work?
Organisms are diploid: each gene has two alleles with dominance. Breeding two organisms recombines their genes per locus, so offspring inherit a Mendelian mix and are never simply the sum of their parents. Some traits are dominant, some recessive and hidden.
